UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School Chapel Hill
Britsy is a dual Master’s degree student pursuing an MBA at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. She is from Santa Cruz, California and ventured to the Midwest for college where she graduated from Principia College with a degree in Environmental Studies. During college, she studied abroad in New Zealand and was firmly bit by the travel bug prompting her to do a  sustainable development internship in southern Chile post-graduation. After returning to the US, she gained field experience at an environmental consulting firm, specializing in groundwater sampling and regulatory compliance. However after her Chile internship, Britsy’s geographic interest in Latin America prompted her to spend a year working for a start-up ecotourism company in Leon, Nicaragua. She traveled throughout the region and visited coffee and cocoa farms, learning about local cooperatives and their operations. She returned to California and spent two years as a Logistics Project manager executing life science-focused networking conferences in the US, Canada, China, Europe and South America. She returned to graduate school to build upon her interest in agricultural supply chains to specialize in sustainable sourcing and procurement of raw materials, specifically food. Upon graduation, she hopes to use leading-edge metrics and methods like GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and the Higg Index as well as life cycle analysis and sustainable design as catalysts for innovation in supply chain management. She is a CrossFit devotee who loves exploring new places with her husband and trying anything that the locals eat.
